A Sad Yet Joyous Day

Merry Consumer-mas to all!!! I hope Santa squeezed his fat ass down everyone's chimneys and brought them all the goodies they hoped for. As for me, yeah, the fat bastard was here. He even dropped off some biscuits for the doggies. How does he do it?

A sad note on this joyous day....the godfather of soul, James Brown, my icon, is dead. He had a bout of pneumonia that he was not able to beat. A very very sad day in the West Five Two homestead. Peace be with you JB, you will always be an inspiration to me.

"I Just Threw Up In My Mouth A Little Bit"

Here are the highly anticipated photos from Saturday night. For those who were not present, it was a good time filled with many shots/beers & some HI-larious moments, including the title quote of this post!!!
The night started at Salexis' for a toast of Champaign and opening of some naughty gifts, one of which made it out with us. We then ambulated up to the Flying Fig for dinner, which was scrumptious, kudos Nasty Nate! At the Fig, J-Ho & Salexis overheard a cellphone conversation in the loo regarding, "Barb got tickets to Bob Seager, that bitch!" We were seated next to a large party of adults who thought it would be a good idea to bring along their 2 year old daughter, whom was running around the room and putting on a puppet show w/ a paperbag. Classic.
We then headed to the Mercury Lounge to catch a buzz before joining the cheese of W 6th and show everyone our well practiced dance moves. I'm glad to see that the above establishment was blantantly disregarding the new non-smoking law by distributing ash trays on every table & allowing people to smoke, despite the majority vote. Fuckers. Here is a shot of two individuals whoms names escape me at this moment, one is whipping the other with the party favor of the night. One can only imagine how much fun this little prop brought to us, especially as shots were thrown back.Pictured here is J-Ho and yet another nameless individual. I do apologize for not remembering names, however, it's probably better that way, seeing that I'm posting their pictures on the world wide web, and the fact that both of these women are lawyers.More shots from the Mercury Lounge. I remember this woman's name, however she does not have an appropriate blog pseudoname, therefore I will not display her true name for her own protection. And the guy, I don't remember his name, but I rode downtown with him, and he used to live next door to Taj.From this picture we moved on to the Velvet Dog for a shot, but it was dead, so we proceeded on to the Blind Pig. I'd like to comment that both of these establishments were also blantantly disobeying the smoking ban. I must admit that the smoking was far less, but still present. Fuckers. Salexis & J-Ho posed for a picture while on the dance floor the Blind Pig. I must also add that I now know why the word "Pig" is included in the title of this bar....more on that later.Of course this is the mighty Medusa J along with the J-Ho about to cut a rug on the dance floor. This is still early in the night, and I do believe that we were the only people on the dance floor. You can see the DJ booth in the back, where I was putting in mad requests & acquired digits & email addy of the mixologist. YIKES!!!!! Do not mess with Salexis when she has a whip in her hand! Again, this prop made for a very interesting night. Many an ass earned a spanking. Just like this guy pictured here. He kept begging to spank one of us "just once, gently, I promise." There was an extreme sense of power that overcame us in telling him "No." I may have led this guy to believe that my day job was that of a dominatrix. Little white lies will never hurt anyone. For some reason J-Ho did not want her face in this photo! Now back to the "Pig" portion of this post. This guy thought it was completely acceptable to grab a hold of each & every woman he passed on the dance floor and gyrate his uncoordinated pelvis into our asses. What is it about alcohol, loud music, and a hot dance floor that makes this seem like it's an okay thing to do? He was not the only one out there. Good thing we had the whip!Creeping up on intoxication at this point. Sporting yet another party favor of the night, the infamous red boa! I am still picking feathers out of my hair. I thought for sure the thing would be featherless by the end of the night the way it was shedding. These guys were hilarious. At first I thought they were foreign because of their choice of sweaters, then I heard them talk. Turns out they were just a bunch of Chachi's dressed in cheesey Christmas garb. I'm pretty sure they got their asses spanked at some point in the evening.Full-on drunkenness has overcome these two, who were serenading the overweight, quite malodorous cabbie whom had an oxygen tank riding shotgun. He told us a "dirty" joke that was quite corny. Something about a condom & an elephant, which required some spelling out of there's "no F in weigh." He yelled out to J-Ho that "There's always time to change your mind!!!" when he dropped us at the Angle. Two beers were ordered, but not consumed due to over-intoxification. So, they were donated to this cat, Chilly, whom I used to work with at one of the many establishments that employed me pre-professionalism. He's a good shit, and I always see him around.Last stop of the night, Salexis' for some penis cake. Very nice baking & decorating skills by one of the men pictured above. The cake itself was good, however the icing lacked in appeal to all four of us. Here the party wound down with some pounding of piano keys, shaking of the rain stick, drawing on the chalkboard wall, and a long distance call to Silk & Piddy. I can't believe J-Ho is getting hitched in less than two weeks. I am looking forward to having a blast at the Indo-American wedding & reception planned for the 30th!!!!!!

Peace out,

Transformation of Medusa Jones

Hello bloggers. Knotty Dee (my sister) was in town for a much anticipated visit last weekend. I decided it was finally time to set out on a spiritual journey, a transformation of mind, body & soul. Here is a before shot, where u can tell by my facial expression that I'm nervous as balls. My hair has been growing for nearly a year without a trip to the hairdresser.

The next picture seen here is one that was in the midst of the process, post backcombing. It was at this point that I was yellilng at her that I had "fried shit on top of my head!!!" I was quite frantic at this point in the journey, worrying that I would be forever banned from my job.

Here is a shot of the final version. I was still having quite a bit of anxiety regarding the job front.
And here is the Sideshow Bob look. I do love the new dreadies, and took quite a bit of ribbing at work via the two white suburban supremacists that I call my co-workers in the pediatric department. This was not a surprise, seeing that one is from Parmatucky & the other is a North Olmstead homegrown. The good news is my boss in peds loves it, and the director has yet to see me. The ladies in psych love the locks (of course), including the big boss. So, needless to say, I still have my job & some kick ass dreadies. Remember, there is nothing dreadful about dread locks, only those who do not like them. Much love Knotty Dee!!!!!

Peace out,
Medusa Jones

Technical difficulties

I don't know what the problem is. I have been unable to post any pics for the last 24 hours. I'm going to a coffee shop to see if I can do it. Stay tuned.

Dengay

I hope all you bloggers had a delightful celebration of the white man stealing from and killing off the majority of Native Americans. I myself need a little detox regimen to get rid of all the lard and calories I have consumed in the last few days. I headed out to Banks Road for some deep fried duck & turkey ala Nasty Nate, and traditional oven roasted turkey ala Dee Dee and all the sides to boot.

Sunday I headed out with the Indo Pack, first to get some coffee, then a jaunt through the Rocky River metropark where we saw many a Clevelanders fishing for the species of "Black Crappie" as pictured below. Then we went off to India Garden in Flakewood where we saw this kitty molesting the babydoll in the window. While eating curry goat I was given a lesson in Indian culture, the moral of the story, Indian restaurants should not try to duplicate Chinese food. I also learned a new vocab word, the title of this blog actually means "fuck off." It is a word I have been using quite liberally the last 24 hours. I hope to impress J-Ho's new in-laws with my cultured self.

Peace out,
MJ

Reggae Revolution

Salexis and I went to see Ziggy Marley last night, and it was a blast! Silk, he's gonna be in Albuquerque on Dec. 4th at the Sunset Theatre, I seriously recommend you go.

The hippie love was in the air until this guy got a little out of hand. He decided to take his shirt off, throw it on stage, and slam into people in his drunken efforts to dance. He was removed via HOB security. Good times.

The quality of the pics suck because it was my phone, but you get the idea. It was a kick ass show.

Proverbial Party

Taj threw a fabulous belated Halloween party Saturday night. J-Ho won for best costume, hands down. We tried to convince her to stand out on Lorain Road that night, just as an experiment, but to no avail. Sorry for the full shot pic, I can't figure out how to rotate it, so u'll have to crane ur neck.

A hooker with a heart of gold.....

Taj missed the three women in his bed, every man's fantasy, but there are pics to prove it. It was a bonding moment amongst girlfriends. You can see J-Ho gazing up at Salexis, longing for her.

I went in for the kill.....

Last one (J-Ho, u don't have a big head).....

Deep Thoughts By Medusa Jones....

A few thoughts have run through my dome, and I thought I'd share:

1. Power Strips: Here is a strip of 6 or so outlets to utilize when you have multiple electrical items that need to get juice. Why is it that there is a warning that reads "CAUTION OVERLOADING MAY RESULT IN FIRE" isn't that the point?

2. A Salutation: "Have a blessed day." I received this salutation at Target today, and thought to myself that this greeting is quite politically incorrect. How does the cashier know if I celebrate Jesus as my lord and savior and/or any other religious being? She doesn't, and I am an Atheist, hence making it a non-PC thing to say. I vote we ban this greeting, for it has offended me.

3. Eyebrows: British Ed brought up this thought at Phnom Pehn last night. Without eyebrows, sweat drips directly into one's eyes when riding a bicycle and/or exercising in any way/shape/form that results in perspiration. So that's what eyebrows are for!!!!

4. Dennis Kucinich: He was dining at aforementioned local spot last night with his unusually tall wife (well, maybe he's unusually short, and she's just average height, anyways.....). They were playing kissy-face at the table, which I could have done without, but hey, he's just a regular politician trying to get his grub on.

5. Aliens: I'm beginning to think that I just might be one. I'm feeling further and further away from the human kind that resides amongst me. What happened, and when did it happen? Has it always been like this and I'm just now figuring it out? Like Jack says, where'd all the good people go???????????

Other happenings last night.....Salexis, Vanilla Soy Latte and I dropped in Lakewood's Winking Lizard to meet up w/ everyone's favorite East Side Lesbian & her crew. There I was grabbed by a blonde woman w/ circa 1988 bangs/attire and told "We gotta fill the floor, so if you wanna dance, get up there." Thanks, but I'll pass. After our bizarre experience in Flakewood we moved back to our comfort zone, the OC. We hit up the Angle where we found Nasty Nate & other Figheads. Ms. Butterscotch and her band was jamming out to some funk, which I greatly enjoyed. J-Ho's ex booty call stalker friend made a cameo. Nasty Nate & I spotted him at the same time and looked at each other and just laughed. We closed down the bar & Salexis was hungover this morning. Good times.

A True Random Ten

I've decided that my "random" on the old iPod is not at all what it says, so I'm going to do an R-10 from my Yahoo Launchcast cyberstation that I've created.

1. Bertha Butt Boogie - Jimmy Castor from Old School Boogie. This song is as funny as the title implies. It's a funky cut about a woman & her three sisters that have large asses. It was recommended by fans of Maceo Parker. I voted it a 3 out of 4 stars.

2. The Message (Gerald's Mix) - Cymande from Blueprint. Another group recommended by fans of Maceo & All The Kings Men. It's another funk groove, but it's pretty cheesey. This one gets a 1 out of 4, could do without hearing it again.

3. Let It Whip - Dazz Band from 20th Century Masters. Oh yeah, this one was a popular funky/diso'esque cut back in the 70's. You'd all know it if you heard it. "Let's whip it baby, Let's whip it right, Let's whip it baby...whip it all night."

4. Boss - Rick Boss from Port Of Miami. I have no idea who this is, but he sucks. This song was played cause it matches my genre preferences. Funny, I don't remember rating "not talent bad rap" as one of my genres. This guy is trying to rap about his loud speakers, peacock ring, his money & guns, as well as all the women he's dogged. And this guy making more money than me because?????? This one gets a "never play again" rating.

5. Life Is A Dance - Chaka Khan from Chaka. Who doesn't love some Chaka? I think she needs to make a comeback. I was so born in the wrong decade/culture. I gotta learn this drum groove, it's hella funky. It's got lots of hi-hat action which is indicative of the late 70's cocaine era in funk music.

6. Bossa - Donald Byrd from His Majesty King Funk. Don't know who this is, but it's a groovy little bossa-nova instrumental piece with trumpet, congas, guitar, bass, and drums. Not bad. It gets a 2 out of 4.

7. Be Easy - Young Hot Rod from Be Easy. This song sucks too. I like old school rap, all the new shit sucks ass. Another rating of "never play again" for this one.

8. In My House (12" Mix) - Mary Jane Girls from The Very Best Of. Too much disco & not enough funk in this one for me. It gets a 1 out of 4 rating.

9. Best Kept Secret - Diamond & The Psychotic Neurotics from Stunts, Blunts & Hip-Hop. Never heard of these guys, they were recommended by fans of Pharcyde. I dig them, this is the old school rap I was just talking about. If you like Pharcyde, check these guys out.

10. Back It Up - Urban Mystic from Ghetto Revelations II. No idea who this is, but the song is about big asses on the dance floor.

There you have it, a true random 10 from my Launchcast. I love that the 10 started with a 70's cut about big asses, and a present day rap about big asses. I couldn't have planned that if I tried. Good night.

Sunday Morn' R-10

Coffee & blueberry pancakes.....YUM.....on w/ the 10:

1. Chain of Fools - Aretha Franklin from a mixed motown disc I made. Love me some Aretha!

2. Brown Sugar - D'Angelo from a mixed disc I made via Kazaa. This song reminds me of my friend Black Buddha of Y-town!!

3. Rock the Nation - Michael Franti & Spearhead from Stay Human. Fuck yeah, this song says so much about the current state of our nation. The Feds actually kept tabs on this band and investigated them because of their lyrics. Like they were fucking terrorists just because they spoke out about how FUCKED the Bush administration is, hope they're not reading the West Five Two!!!! Silk & Piddy, I'll re-burn this disc for you, it's deep.

4. I Can't Stand The Rain - Ann Peebles from a Soul disc I made to learn funky drum beats.

5. Good People - Jack Johnson from In Between Dreams. I have to agree with Jack on this title/song.

6. More Peas - The JB's from Funky Good Time: The Anthology (Disc 1). This song is definitely a funky good time!!! If you hear this track & you don't move some part of your body, u better go get an ear examination.

7. Fishin' Blues - Taj Mahal from The Essentials (1). "Any fish bites if you got good bait" I enjoy that line.

8. Aquarium - Me'shell Ndegeocello from The Spirit Music Jamia: Dance of the Infidel. This track is jazz/electronica/african-esque all in one, as is most of this album. A good pick from Carnegie West branch.

9. September - Earth, Wind, & Fire from another mixed disc via Kazaa. September is gone already, but I do enjoy bopping around to this track.

10. I Get High On You - Sly & The Family Stone from The Essential (2). This comes ala Silk's collection. A funky band from the 70's, go figure!!

That's it. Now I have to start my day.

R.I.P. Bullet

Most of you did not get to meet Bullet, the little pit/black lab mix puppy that lived behind me for a short time (about 4 weeks). Bullet was a spunky little guy that loved to run up and down the street without his leash. He also tried to investigate my yard once, while Raja was outside, and let's just say that didn't go over too well. Cody liked him, they sniffed butts and romped around in the yard a few times.
Bullet never had a chance at a good life. I was scheming on ways to rescue him from his demise, for these people cannot care for themselves, let alone a puppy. I took this picture in efforts to find a new owner for him, but my efforts fell short. Last Tuesday Bullet was pronounced dead in his side yard. It seems that he had bloody stools, and no one thought to take him to the vet, and he passed. Please hug your pups today and give a shout out to Bullet. No dog should have to live or die in such a cruel manner. Chalk up another reason for my hating of "earth" people.

Ew...

As I continue to enjoy this intense funk I've been rolling in for the past month or so, I have stumbled upon yet another reason in which I dislike the majority of human beings. Now, some might say I'm a neat freak and/or anal and/or a germ-a-phobe, all titles in which I deny, I just like a clean house and things done a certain way. With that being said, one HUGE issue I have is when people blow their noses at a table, especially when said table is being used for people to consume foods while on their lunch breaks.

Not one, but two of my co-workers crossed this line today. The first offender did get up to blow her nose on the other side of the room, however she brought her snotty tissues over to the food area, sat down, blew again, wiped the snot, then sat the snot rags down on the table next to her and continued to consume her food. ARE U FUCKING SERIOUS????? Offender number 2 didn't feel it necessary to even budge when blowing his nose. He did the deed, placed the snot rags next to him, and continued on with consumption. Again, I must say...ARE U FUCKING SERIOUS?????? To top it off, I didn't see either of them wash their hands.

For all of you bloggers who didn't know, I DO work in healthcare, and this type of behavior is unacceptable. How, can one work in healthcare, yet be so careless and disgusting? Oh wait, don't tell me, I know, because the majority of human beings are stupid. In my opinion, this type of behavior warrants a citation of sorts. Perhaps immediate exposure to C-Diff and a quarantined room at the hospital. One in which they can loathe in the disgustingness of pissing out of their asses and wonder why it's so difficult for people to wash their hands after tending to and cleaning bodily fluids out of certain canals and/or crevices. Perhaps just a fine of $10 for not practicing universal precautions would do.

Thoughts? Anyone? Do express yourself, for this is the place to be heard.

PS - Gravel by Ani DiFranco just came on my iTunes, fitting.

Steve Iriwin meets his maker....

The Crocodile Hunter is dead. He was stung in the chest by a sting ray while filming some underwater movie/tv show. I suppose it was only a matter of time before something got to this crazed yet passionate about animals man. R.I.P. Let's all give a moment of silence as we remember this fool.

Silk & Piddy Send Off R-10

Silk & Piddy are on the road to Santa Fe, NM to pursue a new chapter in life. I've got the itch to move also, but I'm stuck here for a year w/ this new job. I think this time next year I will take the plunge & sign on w/ a traveling company & head out west. I feel like my 20's have been pissed away in this going nowhere city. Anyways, this one's for you guys, hope it's a good one!!!!!

1. Radar Love - Golden Earring from Wayne's World 2 Soundtrack. This is a great soundtrack, lots of good songs, can't say the same for the movie. This is an excellent driving song too!!!!

2. Take, Take, Take - White Stripes from Get Behind Me Satan. This one comes via Silk's collection. I like these guys, simple, yet good music.

3. Say Hello Wave Goodbye - David Gray from White Ladder. This one's a downer.

4. Track 11 - Propeller Heads from some mixed cd I ripped from Kazaa. I'm pretty sure this is the Jungle Brothers along w/ Propeller Heads doing a sweet track together. "I need a chick with big potatoes to mash." Sweet lyrics.

5. That's How Strong My Love Is - Taj Mahal from The Essential (2). I picked this double album up at the library a few weeks back, and I'm digging it. Nothing like some sweet blues on a Sunday morning.

6. You Got Me Wide Open - Bootsy Collins & Bernie Worrell from Friday Soundtrack. Good times, great movie, killer soundtrack.

7. Relating To A Psychopath - Macy Gray from another mixed disc ripped via Kazaa. This song is my anthem!!!!!!!

8. The $20 Sack Pyramid - Dr. Dre from The Chronic. This skit is HIGH-LARIOUS!!! Duck Mutha Fuckin Mouth and Bootney Lee Farnsworth playing for a damn sack o' weed and a gift certificate the Compton swap meet.

9. What's The Scenario Remix - Leaders Of The New School from one of my many oldschool mixes. Anyone remember these guys?????

10. N.E.S.T.A. (Never Ever Submit To Authority) - Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra from Liberation Afro Beat Vol. 1. A good way to end. Remember this title, fuck the government!!!

There u have it guys. Hope your trip is safe & u get settled in quickly. I'm thinking about a visit Jan/Feb so I can get the fuck out of Cleveland's dead of winter slump.

Peace out,

Maple Hts Waterfall....

Ladies & Gents, this pic is brought to you by a fellow blogger, Ajae. Everyone give her a shout out for capturing this Maplett Waterfall. I'm assuming the pic was taken at a local bar in the Heights, but I could be mistaken. Ajae, please elaborate on this particular mullet......what was he drinking....did he have a lady friend...was he dangerous, hostile, volitile, or cool, calm & collected?? Inquiring minds want to know!!!!!

Express Lane Mullet

Fellow bloggers, I'm here at the West Five Two burning the midnight oil. I was in the local grocery store last night picking up some ingredients and found myself behind this mullet in the express lane. Whoever invented the camera phone is a damn genius (if you keep up w/ the blog you'll know that I recently acquired and up-to-date cell a few months back)!!!!! As you can probably gather from this pic, this particular mullet is very tame in nature and of small stature. He has the distinguished salt & pepper look going, and it's not a man purse over his shoulder, but a sling. Perhaps a nasty brawl of sorts at a local west side hole in the wall.......Grilly's.....ABC.....B&G??? Never judge a book by it's cover, this mullet could be ferocious when intoxicated and/or high on illicit substances. His cart contained a jug o' milk, a large can of tomato sauce, two cans of Chef Boyardee Beef-a-Roni & a bag of some sort of produce or fruit. A most excellent trip to the grocery.

Peace out,
Medusa J

People Suck

Yes, that's right, I've decided that people suck. Men, women, children, they all suck. I was spit at today by a young boy on his bike on the corner of Abbey Rd & Columbus. Luckily for him I was in my vehicle and he missed. I did nothing to provoke this behavior, and if I wasn't in my right mind, I would have got out and kicked his little white trash no shoes/shirt wearing ass. Fucker.

Saturday boarding the Rapid on my commute home, I accidently bumped into a woman carrying an oversized box, and if looks could kill, I'd be dead. She scoffed at me when I was being nice & apologizing. It was too much for me to handle, I shouted "Damn, I said I was sorry, what the fuck?" She said nothing and kept moving. It's not like I knocked her to the floor and stood over top of her laughing or better yet, spitting at/on her. I mean, come on people, seriously.

Today at orientation/fire safety I got stuck sitting in front of the belligerent new employee that will probably get canned only to return with an AK47 and open fire in the cafeteria. Nothing could go right for her....they didn't have her badge, she didn't need benefits (cause she was on her mom's plan...grow the fuck up), the presentation ran over 5 minutes, and she was huffing and puffing as if she was the only one that was hungry and had to piss.

This world has become overly aggressive, violent, cold, and malicious. I want no parts of it anymore. I have but one phrase to leave with you all.....
SIMMER DOWN NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Peace out,
Medusa Jones

Random Pics

I was going through the pics on my computer and felt compelled to put some of them up for your enjoyment (well, mainly mine). You all know I grew up in New Jersey, Pennsville to be exact. But I bet you never thought about how small of a hick town it really is, seeing that I'm so cool and all. Well, this was my bus stop growing up. I was feeling a bit nostalgic so I thought I'd share.

Salexis and I set out on a bike excursion Saturday evening to photograph industrial Cleveland. We saw some interesting sights, including some guy standing amongst a bunch of trash under some building w/ his pants down, luckily he was wearing boxers, but I don't even want to venture a guess at what the fuck he was doing there. Salexis swore she saw Michael Meyer's face in someone's window. I just think it's her paranoia developing into a mental illness. It's okay Salexis, I'm experienced in working with this population, not only do you have a friend, you have a therapist that will play stress management bingo with you if need be. Anywho, this is a shot of her trying to peddle up one of the many hills of Tremont. Shortly after this pic was taken, someone tried to hijack her bike while we were at Lava. Fucking ghetto ass Tremont. Luckily Taj was there to fix the bike.

This next shot was taken at Ingenuity last month. I'm pretty sure this is J-Ho's soon to be father-in-law. At least we know he jams. Maybe he and I can get a drum circle going at the wedding reception.

I was strongly urged not to put this photo up by a fellow blogger who shall remain nameless. But I'm putting it up. It's blue sweater dude at Ingenuity, and he was running around like a nut during the opening drum ceremony. He's everywhere that has a slight hippie vibe. I'm pretty sure I saw him up on MLK yesterday, engaged in a drum circle. I almost stopped, but I knew it was him, and didn't want to have to have a conversation with him. Enjoy.

Peace out,
Medusa Jones

R-10 w/ Some Random Thoughts

It's been a while since I've thrown down an R-10. So I'm going to do so, just after I get some random thoughts out. Game night at Salexis' was great last night. I have some pics, but who knows if they'll ever make it up here! Turns out the guy I had been seeing was really just playing me to get someone else's attention, and he rejected me via text messaging. Can I get "Fuck You" from my readers? Thanks. So I've decided that I'm done with dating, again. Really, I just can't stand this shit. I wouldn't call myself bitter, although I do have that bite to me right now, I'd just call myself fed up. Yes, that's it, I'm fed up. On a different note, I start my new job next week, and I'm feeling a high level of anxiety, which is not like me at all. I keep wondering if this is the right decision, am I going to be happy, etc., etc. Whatever....On w/ the ten:

1. It's Raining Men - The Weather Girls from Pure Disco Vol. 2. Oh hell to the no, see above.

2. Tinseltown To The Boogiedown - Mos Def from We Are Hip Hop Disc 2. This album comes via Silk E's collection, much love.

3. Same Old Thing - The Meters from Struttin. Another album via Silk, these guys are funky, I love them.

4. Press On - Mary J. Blige from Love & Life. I'm with u Mary, I hear ya. Just tryin' to stay right while the world is sooo wrong. New Zealand here I come.

5. Einstein's Takin' Off - Ugly Duckling from an UD mix I made. This group is the shit, anyone whole appreciates hip-hop will enjoy these guys. I think they're from the west coast, and they do a lot of touring in Europe.

6. Out Of My Mind - James Blunt from Back To Bedlam. I'm still trying to decide if I like this guy or not.

7. Come On And Love Me - Lenny Kravitz from Are You Gonna Go My Way. Probably one of my favorite songs on this album. I'd love to learn the beat, I've tried, but there is some odd time going on in this track.

8. Yes - Black Sheep from A Wolf In Sheep's Clothes. Nice old school jam/group for that azz.

9. Dispatch The Troops - Matisyahu from Youth. The Jewish reggae dude, I gotta say, he's damn good.

10. See That Woman - ???? from my self-made disc entitled The Dope Shit. This is an electronic remix of a Nina Simone song. I like.

Well bloggers, that's it for now. And one final thought....dude just texted me asking "how much do u hate me..." I will not entertain him by answering, but all I have to say is WTF? Seriously.

Peace out,

Canoe + Cheese = Good Times

Let me start off by saying it's hotter than a Haitian hostage camp right now. I'll sum this up quickly or else I might suffer a heat stroke right here in my office.

Sunday Klassy Kate, A-Fuzz, and myself decided to go down to Mohican Adventures and rent a canoe for a 7 mile/2 hour tour. It was a pleasant drive, lots of clouds, but we were lucky enough to miss the rain. We paid our fees, used it, grabbed our vests & paddles, and off we went down the river.

Things started off a tad fast, we climbed into our canoe and before we A-Fuzz and myself could coordinate our paddle strokes, we found ourselves traveling sideways down the first bout of rapids. In attempts to turn around, we managed to turn backwards and crash into a downed tree on the side of the river. At this point, I'm in the back laughing while the others are trying to figure out how to get us out safely.

We got wedged under the tree, and all of a sudden the canoe started to fill with water. Me, captain obvious yells, "There's water coming in the boat, we're gonna sink," while still laughing. I then realize my bookbag is behind me and about to float down river, all along holding my camera/cell phone/wallet in a plastic freezer bag. All I could think of was my new cell phone getting shorted out under the water. I grabbed the bag, and at this point we were sinking!!!

Now, I'm not the person to have with you in times of crisis, because all I do is laugh. I am of no assistance what-so-ever!!!! Klassy Kate & A. Fuzz began pushing off the tree to dislodge the canoe, and nearly dislodged A. Fuzz's leg. All the while I'm still laughing. We all jumped out of the canoe, and holy hell, some guy and his kid come crashing down the rapids and nearly smash into us.

We attempted to lift the canoe to get the water out, but it was very difficult seeing that only 2 of the 3 people were able to help. Eventually it worked and we got back on track (mind you, we had been in the canoe for less than 10 minutes). Most of the water was out of the canoe, but Klassy Kate go to enjoy her own person kiddie pool (a.k.a. ass bath) while sitting in the middle of the vessel.

The rest of the trip went smoothly. We enjoyed the scenery as well as the kids screaming, "How many more miles Mom?" as we passed them by. We were all soaked at the end of the trip, climbed into the Jeep, and headed back up to the land of Cleve.

We had to make a pit-stop and Grandpa's Cheese Barn, and yes, grandpa was there, working the cash register. Our free-loading asses didn't buy a damn thing, but we tasted every sample they had out. My personal favorites were the habanero pickles and the cheese w/ cranberries!!!!! YUM.

There you have it bloggers, our trip to Mohican. And if you're all wondering, the zip-lock freezer bag did it's job, and nothing on the inside was wet!!!! Hell to the yeah!!!!

Random Bloggage

Wonderful world of bloggers, I am bored out of my mind this evening, and with an early work day ahead of me, I am in for the night. Let's start with Tuesday's events down at Edgewater Park. I just wanted to relax, read my books, and enjoy the hot as balls sun. I was laying there, in my bathing suit (bad move), minding my own business when I heard a rustling very close by. Now, mind you, I set up mid-park, far from the bike/walking path in efforts not to get harassed by pervert passer-bys. Apparently I was not far enough away. I look up to see some dude sitting with his bike, about 10 feet from me, just staring, which totally pissed me off. He wasn't there long, so I was relieved that he left. I sat up to start reading my book and all of a sudden Laser Eyes is back, this time about 7 feet away, not breaking his sexual glare. At this point I'm livid and I say, "HI" in efforts to let him know that I know that he's staring right at me. He gets up and walks over to me, and now I'm a tad frightened, and he says, "Do you mind if I sit down and talk to you?" I now realize he is MRDD (mentally retarded/developmentally delayed for the lay people) I answer with, "Actually I just want to read my book and be left alone." So he sits down anyway. I then have to endure his staring and slurred speech. Good thing I work with these people for a living so I was able to get rid of him fairly quickly. I put my shirt back on while he looked away, then told him "My boyfriend, who is a wrestler at our college, is on his way down here any minute." He got up to leave and asked if he could have my number so we could talk again. I said to him, "Um well, seeing that I have a boyfriend and all, I don't think that's appropriate." He left and I called Klassy Kate because I knew she could empathize with this sitch. WTF man????? I just wanted to be left alone.

Following the Laser Eyes incident, I hit up Marc's for a few goods not attainable at the market. It was looking gray outside, but I figured I had some time before the rain. Of course Marc's is slower than molasses going uphill in January, so I got stuck at the register. The sky opened, and it poured, soaking the Jeep. I ran out w/ all my groceries, threw the top up, loaded the groceries and headed home, with a wet ass. Klassy Kate then joined me for semi-homemade Za & salad.

Yesterday I worked most of the day, got out a little early, and headed home. The strapping young lad I've been seeing since the beginning of this month called & asked if I would mind if he came over to see me. Would I mind? Certainly not. He brought his notes for his cardiac exam and looked over them while we ate & chatted. I'm not sure how, but he got a 100% on the exam today. Maybe I'm good luck. Nah, he's probably just that smart.

So today was pretty uneventful. I fed Salexis' cats and ran errands, ducking and dodging the storms that have been rolling through all day. I finally got a new cell phone, after dropping mine in a toilet nearly a year ago, leaving it on constant fritz. Yes, I used the damn thing for a year after dropping it in a shitter, fuck off. I did win tix to the Cinemateque (is that how u spell it?) for next weekend Thurs-Sun., so that was cool. Gotta love college radio!!!!

Okay, that's it, my random bloggage. Oh shit, if anyone wants to go canoeing this Sunday, Klasy Kate, A-Fuzz & myself are planning on going to Mohican, weather/river permitting.

Peace out,
MJ

Big News People....

For those who don't know, I was officially offered a full-time job at Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital, and as of yesterday, I accepted. I will start next month!!! Holy shit, a real job, I'm feeling anxiety.

On a different note, let's get a bowling night together due to the near departure of our friends Klassy Kate, Silk, & Piddy. We better hurry, because time is flying!! I leave you with a 10.

1. Hip Hop - Mos Def from Black On Both Sides.

2. Dust My Broom - Rick Kalister & Friends!!!! A classic blues song done by many.

3. Cool Like That - Digable Planets from a mixed disc. Love this group, what ever happened to them?

4. Fu-Gee-La - The Fugees from The Score. I hope these guys get back together.

5. Watermelon Man - Fred Wesley & The JB's from Funky Good Time Anthology (disc 1). I'm pretty sure Herbie Hancock did this song too.

6. Bad Bad Thing - Chirs Isaak from some mixed disc. This song kicks ass.

7. In Dust We Trust - Chemical Brothers from Exit Planet Dust. This is a great album.

8. Speaking Of Tongues - Michael Franti & Spearhead from Stay Human. Everyone needs to have this album in their collection.

9. Family Reunion - Jill Scott from Beautifully Human. Oh this track makes me laugh, "What can we say....it's family"

10. Some Kind Of Wonderful - Joss Stone from The Soul Sessions. Nice re-make.

Okay bloggers, I'm outtie. Going to the park for some reading/people watching.

Wanted For Crimes Against Harimanity

If you stumble upon this mullet consider him armed with hair gel and dangerous with a comb. It is rumored that this mullet frequents the local coffee shop and can be quite aggressive when prodded. It is also rumored that the mullet pictured here purchased this lovely striped cardigan/plaid flannel ensemble, left the tags on it, then returned it the next day. A classic Medina Mullet move.

Here is another shot of the Dina-mullet w/ his lady friend. What's up with the cuffs of his shirt? It appears they've out grown the jacket a.k.a. blazer. BEWARE this mullet has been known to display severe sarcasm. The key to fending off a mullet of this nature is bees. Actually, just one bee will do.

So bloggers, keep your eyes peeled for him, and ride his ass until it's chapped about this doo. Until next time.

Backpacking In PA

Most of you know VSL and I trucked out to PA for my first ever backpacking trip early Sunday morning. Now, the plan was for a two day hike, however, my inexperienced ass could not hack the second day, for 14 miles was enough for me, so we came home early. Anyways, never trust a man's estimated time frame for arrival, for what was supposed to be a 2.5 hour drive was more like 4 hours. I digress, on with the photojournalism....

This is the shelter in which we slept over night. We ran into a little rain as we approached the last leg of day one, and no sooner did we get to the shelter, did the skies open up. Good thing I got my second wind when the rains came, I'm not sure hiking in lightening is the safest of things to do. VSL was drinking Tang throughout the first days hike, and might have spilled a little on his pants/shirt/gear. This may sound like nothing of significance, but oh is it. After the rain, we had changed out of our sweaty clothes and dropped our gear in the shelter. Now, bees are attracted to sweet/sticky substances, such as Tang. Shortly after the rain stopped, the bees decided to get in on the Tang action that VSL had going with his backpack and hanging pants. Now, I got to see a side of VSL that most people probably don't know about. It turns out he is TERRIFIED of bees!!! He was swatting at the bees with his hat, jumping every time he thought he heard them buzzing. He could not even attend to a conversation while dancing a jig in efforts not to get stung!!!!!!! From this day forward I suggest he be known as "Killah Bee" instead of Vanilla Soy Latte. Priceless shit man.
This is a picture from the top of the mountain (hill) that we had climbed. I must admit that the first day was tough. We were hiking at 1pm, possibly the hottest time of the day, in sweltering heat & humidity, and I was doubting my abilities. I made it despite the obstacles. Day two turned out to be much easier, perhaps because I knew what to expect. I stayed hydrated, a key element, and felt out a pace that was right for me. Not to mention we started at 9:45 AM before the real heat & humidity had a chance to set. It was a beautiful sight, and well worth the agony of hiking 14 miles round trip.
Here is the spot we stopped for lunch, as you can see Killah Bee is snacking on some Kashi and enjoying nature. I grubbed on a peanut butter granola bar and enjoyed the scenery.

This little lizard was kick ass. He hung out near the shelter doing his own thing. He looked really cool so I snapped a few shots of him. This is the only one that didn't come out blurry!! Well, that's the recap on the backpacking trip. I'd definitely do it again, and think it's a must before Silk heads out west. It took two days for my body to stop being sore, but I'm glad I did it. It's a hell of a workout and lets you be in nature. Yay for backpacking!!!

11 o'clock R-10

What up bloggers? I have to charge my pod, so why not a R-10 while doing so?

1. Underdog - Courtney Cable from Sense Of Me. Courtney is a semi-local chic, she is an OU alum & is now somewhere in Stow/Akron playing music. You can check her out if you click on Jimbo's link, she's on his record label. Very good.

2. Shalom Salaam - Ziggy Marley from Dragonfly. Love me some reggae. Got to see Ziggy at the "Scene Pavillion" or whatever it's called a few years back w/ Blues Traveler. It was a great time.

3. Lovin' U (Bonus Track)- Alicia Keys from Songs In A Minor. This girl has some pipes, and can jam on those ivory keys.

4. Willie & The Hand Jive - Eric Clapton from Timepieces. This has always been my favorite Clapton song, I guess cause it's got a little funk to it.

5. Mrs. Potter's Lullaby - Counting Crows from This Desert Life. I find this album to be less depressing than the usual Crows. I do like this song a lot.

6. Now I'm A Man - Peter King from Shango. Some avant garde, afro-cuban jazz type shit right here. Love it!!

7. Fever - Peggy Lee from Martini Lounge. A sensual/sexy old school track.

8. New Jack Hustler - Ice T from a mixed cd I made. Hells yeah, this was my anthem back in the day.....I thought I was a hustler.

9. Wachadunno - Sun 60 from Headjoy. A jamming alt/rock track from a kick ass group.

10. Staple It Together - Jack Johnson from In Between Dreams. Can't say enough good stuff about this guy. LOVE HIM.

That's all folks. Backpacking pics to come soon.

Today's Events

A five star day according to today's PD horoscope, it went something like this...
I got to work, brought a patient down to the HOT AS BALLS gym, and began trying to work with her, while wearing a gown & non-latex gloves that were two sizes too small for my large hands. I can't say much, but this patient is very involved. Needless to say, I experienced the "faint" phenomenon mid-session. I started feeling very anxious & lightheaded, the room was getting smaller, and voices more distance. I quickly excused myself and tore off my gown/too small gloves and ran to the staff restroom. There I hosed off w/ cold water and got my grip. I returned to the session, finished up, and headed upstairs to do the note. As I was writing the note, the strange feelings came back, so I jumped up, ran to the bathroom and hosed w/ cold water once again. This time the feeling subsided. It was purely emotional, I'm sure, but very strange. I've cut up a human brain, a human body, observed ECT (electroconvulsive therapy), and have never once been phased, WTF???? Oh well, I survived and played it off pretty well (I think).

Next up....to the coffee shop to meet w/ Vanilla Soy Latte to finalize the plans for backpacking. Coming back from the bathroom, I run into Man Whore, he gives me a hug and strikes up convo. Now, for those who are unaware, MW called me out of the blue a few weeks ago at quarter to 11 (PM), never to be heard from again. So, today I felt it my obligation to call him out on this randomness. In response he said "You know, I was just calling to chat, see how you were doing. I was totally going to call you again, as soon as I had a chance...I've been busy...studying...the boards...." I smiled, rolled my eyes and said, "right, right." Seriously, who calls someone, that they previously had "relations" with, on a Wed. night at 10:45pm to chat? Now that I'm a professional working woman, I consider anything after 10PM (my bedtime) nothing but a booty call. Enough said.

Thirdly.....to Marc's for some much needed stuff I can't get at the market. While checking out I spot a mullet, a fucking serious mullet, two lines over. Picture this if you can: a larger woman, of African American decent,(looked much like Goldie Lox XL from Cloverleaf Lanes, but BETTER) with a top portion of spiky red, and we're talking fire engine red, bell pepper red type shit here people, with bleached blonde sides that were laced with "steps" and a back that hung just past her neckline. Up under the back, sticking out, was her natural black hair. I was so wrapped up in getting the specs/details of this mullet that I wrote the wrong total on my check, and had to cross everything out. I do this mullet very little justice with my words, and could not be more apologetic for letting all of you down, and not having my camera with me. Shame on me.

That pretty much brings us up to speed. I made myself a kick-ass salad for dinner, and to my surprise, my "tub" of blue cheese is GONE!!!!!! AHHHHH, Klassy Kate, u know the "tub" I speak of. All and all I'd say today was most def. a five star day, even with the near fainting episode first thing this morning.

Peace out ch'all,
Medusa Jones

Holy Testicle Tuesday

Not much going on over here at the West Five Two except household chores. I'm gonna fire off an RT (because I'm procrastinating) then go finish scraping the paint off the interior of my back porch. Fun. Here ya go....

1. Open Mic - Liquid Soul from one of my many mixed discs. Love these guys, and this song is just as the name implies, a freestyle w/ lots of jamming going down in the background. I will be heading to Peabody's to see this guys later next month.

2. The Panties - Mos Def from The New Danger. Mos is my boy!!!

3. Horny - Mousse T from yet another mixed disc. This song brings me back to my days in West Philadelphia and all the craziness that occurred on Regent Square. Yes Yes.

4. One Of Us - Joan Osborne from Relish. This is a really good album, I got to see her way back, about 11 years ago at the Electric Factory in Philadelphia. She's great.

5. Double Take - Seeds & Stems from Sunno Estico The Music Of Seeds & Stems. This is a nice funky/electronic groove that puts you floating out somewhere in tympanic vibration land.

6. Better Days - Anthony Hamilton from Coming From Where I'm From. I dig this guy.

7. The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly - Hugo Montenegro from Instrumental Magic. Okay, explanation here....my uncle, who is a drummer, let me borrow this disc when I was a kid so I could listen to some of the beats. I guess I never gave it back to him, oops.

8. Waterfalls - TLC from Crazysexycool. Oh yeah, let's all bow our head in a moment of silence for my girl Left Eye. Remember this song, it was the shit, and so was the video. Mad props TLC, mad props.

9. Break Of Dawn - Salt-N-Peppa from Very Necessary. Another old school group, hells yeah. I love these women. What ever happened to them??

10. Folsom Prison Blues - Johnny Cash from Live @ Folsom/San Quentin. AH, one of my favorite Johnny Cash songs. I'm gonna play it again, I love it that much.

Okay y'all, thanks for allowing me to procrastinate. I'll be sporting a dust mask and goggles if anyone wants to come get a look at my hot piece of ass.

Sunday Round-Up

Sitting here sipping my tea and enjoying a bowl of oatmeal w/ straw & blueberries that I just whipped up. Most of you know that I scored a kick-ass job at UH's RB&C for the summer. I worked two days last week, getting trained, and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna like it, alot. Not to be brag-a-docious, but it's an amazing place to be and there is so much to be learned while I'm there. I'm going to take full advantage, bust out my old pediatric books, and make myself more marketable.

Today is Father's Day, and I want to send a shout-out to my Pop's in dirty Jerzey, I wouldn't be me without him. Today is also the last day of the Native American Pow Wow down at Edgewater Park. Gates open at 1pm, I'll probably meander over there at some point to check out the dancing and the jewelry. On with the 10....

1. Time's A Wastin' - Erykah Badu from Mama's Gun. Can I get a hell yeah for this woman and this track? Great start to the 10!!

2. Part Of My Life - India.Arie from Acoustic Soul. Another great track & artist. I've never heard her follow-up album, but I do know that this one is kick ass.

3. If I Was Your Girlfriend - Prince from The Hits (Disc 2). There's a funky bass line to this track, and I love it.

4. Trampled Under Foot - Led Zepplin from Disc 3 of the box set. These guys don't get enough play on the Pod. Maybe this is the hippie in me, but damn these guys rock!

5. Leviticus;Faggot - Me'Shell Ndegeocello from Peace Beyond Passion. This is a good song about a young gay man that struggled through his sexual preference with his family and society. An appropriate song for Pride weekend.

6. Shake - Ottis Redding from The Very Best Of. Another feel good classic from Ottis, makes you want to get up and dance around, hence the name 'Shake.'

7. Natty Dread Rampage - Ziggy Marley from a mixed Ziggy disc I burned years ago. This a live cut from who knows where, but I LOVE this fucking song.

8. Friday Night - Ugly Duckling from a mixed UD disc. This is a great underground hip-hop group that I discovered while listening to a stream of WKEXP (a college station in Seattle). Very good, I recommend these guys to any hip-hop fan.

9. Devil's Pie - D'Angelo from Voodoo. Killer track.

10. Bye Bye Baby - G. Love & Special Sauce from Coast To Coast Motel. One of my favorite G. Love songs right here. A sweet bluesy, new orleans jazzy, type shit.

Sweet, a 10 that was filled with GREAT tracks! Way to go Pod.

Peace out,
Medusa Jones

Week In Review R-10

A rather uneventful week off from work, but enjoyable. Monday I had a pseudo-view in which I scored a kick-ass summer job at RB&C. Let's just say that this summer will be hella-good and I'll be doing a whole bunch of goofing off!! Tattoo Tuesday at 252 as Klassy Kate distracted me from the pain, turned out very nice. Props to KK for ditching work to spend the afternoon in a tattoo shop. Tuesday night was band practice with Salexis, let's just say it was the first of MANY to come. Wed. was a whole bunch of nothing, a few stops in Talkies for caffeine and stories of Rufus' digestive issues. OH yeah, and a walk with my dogs to find Raja's owner, only to flat out lie to him about how she came into my life. Thurs. a bagged lunch from Nate's enjoyed at Edgewater followed by a walk. On this walk I observed a not skinny man in a thong catching some rays, and a few hundred yards from him, a man in his tighty whities, laying on a picnic table catching rays, and his left hand, down the tighties, playing with his junk. Why I thought I could enjoy a mid-afternoon walk in the inner city park, I'm not sure. I left disgusted. Today I did a whole bunch of nothing and lots of napping. Tonight is Hillbilly Idol at the Harp, and I leave you with a random ten:

1. Sometimes - Erykah Badu from Baduizm. I hear ya sister.

2. Zimzallabim - Mos Def from The New Danger. This one is just okay.

3. Go To Extremes - Billy Joel from Greatest Hits. Uh-yeah, I should delete this one.

4. If It's Good To You - Eddie Bo & The Soulfinders from a miscellaneous album. A classic funk track.

5. Got To Give It Up - Marvin Gaye from Pure Disco. LOVE THIS TRACK...Too bad his dad killed him.

6. Music Is The Answer - Danny Tenaglia from The House Connection. Hells yeah, a little flashback to the "party" circuit of Philadelphia.

7. Wisemen - James Blunt from Back To Bedlam. I like this guy.

8. Nothin' - Reel Big Fish from Turn The Radio Off. These guys are great live, and I heard they are coming to the land of Cleve this summer. A great punk/ska band.

9. Falling In Love - Anthony Hamilton from Comin' From Where I'm From. Great album, great track, great artist.

10. Jamboree - Naughty By Nature from a mixed disc I created. One of my all time favorite NBN tracks, it's old school for those that don't know it. I heard these guys are coming to the land of Cleve also. Hells yeah.

Peace out,

Maceo Recap followed by Sunday's RT edition

Good morning world o' bloggers. I'm just chillaxin w/ my cup of vanilla cream tea (I'm trying to give up coffee and reap the benefits of the high amounts of anti-oxidants that tea has). So, about last night. Silk & I bought tix to see Maceo Parker (the great sax player from the JB's/James Brown/Parliament/RHCP/the list can go on for miles). We had to talk Salexis into going to the show, she was thinking of spending the evening w/ Mama Carol watching The Incredibles, but I have a feeling she had a good time.

Nobody can stand still at a funk show, including the interpretive dancer that took it upon herself to get on stage and jam. Her first act was good, but when Maceo decided to do a slow Ray Charles classic, it was a bit too much for the crowd as well as the band. She was pretty drunk and crashed into Salexis & Silk a few times throughout the show. At the end of the show she approached Silk and said, "I'm a hotter lesbian than you are." Finally, someone else is the lesbian, and not me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyways, she was so not hotter than Silk, I think her PBR gut did her in.

There was a very cute man jamming out the entire show, and I took it upon myself to strike up conversation with him towards the end of the show. Who would've known that him and his friend (more on that in a minute) would join us & Piddy at the Angle for some drinks and conversation. Totally cool hippie dude that, of course, lives in Columbus. But it was fun nonetheless, and have no fear, I got his digits and he got mine. His friend was one of those people that liked to talk just to hear himself talk, and poor Salexis was playing wing man for me. She just sat there nodding and occasionally saying "uh huh, okay, yeah" to make him feel like she was listening. We were trying to say goodbye and he just started rambling to me about I don't even know what, when Salexis abruptly stood up and cut him off.

So, that was our evening, and the start of my vacation. On with the R-10:

1. The Way You Move - Big Boi from Speakerboxxx. A great hip-hop album often overlooked by Andre's success on his part of the album.

2. Children Play With Earth - Arrested Development from 3 Years, 5 Months, & 2 Days In The Life Of. I dig this song and this group, great political messages throughout.

3. Breakfast At Volo's - Deep Banana Blackout from Rowdy Duty (Disc 1). My sis hipped me to this East Coast jam band, and let me tell you, they are funky.

4. Track 04 - Mark Farina from Mushroom Jazz 4. Classic chill track from the great DJ Mark Farina.

5. Rock Me Baby - Etta James from Platinum Services. Killer blues track that several artists have done.

6. Work It - Missy Elliot from Under Construction. Love me some Missy Misdemeanor.

7. More Peas - Fred Wesley & The JB's from Funky Good Time Anthology (Disc 1). Funk Yeah! This is where Maceo got his start and he gets a funky solo on this track.

8. Champion Requiem - Mos Def from The New Danger. This is my favorite track off this album, and you all know I love me some Mos Def.

9. Too Funky In Here - James Brown from a mixed funk disc I picked up along the way. I gotta dance to this, I'll be back.

10. Parasite - G. Love & Special Sauce from Electric Mile. A great track regarding all the SHIT the politicians feed us, fucking parasites.

That's it for now, I'm gonna enjoy my bowl of oatmeal.

Blog Worthy Events

For those of you keeping up w/ Klassy Kate's blog, you've heard of the urban camping experience at the West Five Two. The sounds of sirens, little kids out past their bedtimes, and the hum of I-90 lulled us to sleep in the tent we pitched in the side yard. Good times.

Monday went something like this.....up at 7am, cleaned up the camp site, and crashed out on the couch for the rest of the morning. A trip to Target for some flip flops with Salexis, followed by a fly by the seat of our pants BBQ in the metroparks.
Piddy lead us on a wild goose chase in efforts to find a spot to pop a squat. He did manage to find a most excellent shaded area, where we grilled, ate, played catch & frisbee. I must admit, I was not anticipating hanging out w/ all of my ex's childhood friends, and was, at times, a bit self-conscious, but I managed to have a great time, regardless. On the drive home I had to pee so bad that I made a stop at Edgewater park to use the facilities. Yeah, they were gross, but I had to go.

Back at the West Five Two, Klassy came over and we walked up to Dariy D for some ice cream, then walked the hounds. We were chillin on the couch just shootin' the shit when the dogs started barking at the back door. I though it was perhaps Piddy & Silk coming for their chicken wings, however, when I looked out the window, I saw the hottie (not so hot anymore) nurse's vehicle parked in my drive. That's right, he did the old "pop over" at 9pm on a Monday night. He came to the front door, it was very awkward and freaked me the fuck out, but Klassy said I handled it well. Any thoughts/suggestions/comments on that shit would be greatly appreciated.

Back to work today, only three more days to go before I get a break. I can't freggin' wait. A shit ass meeting ended my day, and I just finished a HOT ass bowl of chili and I'm sweating my ass off.

Peace out,
Medusa J

High Water = No Canoe Trip

That's right bloggers, no boat rentals today due to the massive amounts of rain we've had in the last few days. So, Klassy Kate & I are heading down to the park to be hippies. If anyone would like to join us, call the cell. Also, everyone's favorite East Side Lesbian is having a BBQ early this evening (4pm-ish I think), so if anyone would like to head out that way, give me a call. One other event for today, a blues show at the Barking Spider (9pm), always free and always a good time.

iPod Charging RT Edition

I have to charge the pod for my Saturday walk/Rapid/walk to work route, so I figured why not do a R-10 in the meantime. I took a nap tonight, watched the last quarter of the Cavs game (I'm not really sure why, because I could care less about professional sports), and that brings us up to the present. On with the Ten.....

1. 7 - Prince from The Hits B/Sides (Disc 1). The funky little purple man. YES!!!

2. French Rockin' Boogie - Geno Delafose from Zydeco Favorites. Love me some zydeco, I've gotta get to New Orleans to witness this shit live.

3. Crush On You - Lil' Kim from Hardcore. Oh hell yeah, Lil' Kim is the shit. This takes me back to the end of my senior year in Dirty Jerzey followed by first year of college in Philly. My mother HATED this album, and I, of course, couldn't get enough of it.

4. Rain - Madonna from Bedtime Stories. I always welcome Madonna on the RT, and I really liked the video to this track.

5. Kiss - Prince from The Hits/B Sides (Disc 2). Hells yeah, a double shot of the funky little purple man!!!!!! This song is one of my all time fave Prince jams, and a funky one at that.

6. Woo - Erykah Badu from Worldwide Underground. My girl. This album is not of the same caliber of the others, but still good.

7. The Root - D'Angelo from Voodoo. MMMMM MMMMM MMMMMM

8. Didjerama - Jamiroquai from Traveling Without Moving. A very cool track of electronica/african/nature music and sounds blended into one fine piece of work.

9. Buffalo Soldier - Bob Marley & The Wailers from Legend. I got nothin' but love for Bob.

10. Low Rider - War from Dazed And Confused Soundtrack. A great classic to close out the 10, SWEET!!!!!!

That's all for now, the pod still needs some more charging time, and I am ready for the sleeper.

Peace out,
Medusa Jones

Sunday Morning Random Ten Edition

It's laundry day, again, here at the West Five Two. I'm having my morning cup o' java and surfing the internet for things I don't really need, but want to buy. I came down with a touch of influenza Thursday evening, took the day off Friday to suffer, and have been downing Nyquil both morning, afternoon, and evening. I'm feeling better, but my nose is rather chapped from steady blowing. I hate being sick, especially when the weather is nice. Sux ass, on with the Ten:

1. Hope - Kelly Ricketts from Hourglass. Ah, a hometown artist from the Ville. I grew up with this gal, and she's a good shit. I'd love the opportunity to jam with her. Kudos to you K-dawg, keep making music.

2. Midnight Rambler (Live) - The Rolling Stones from Hot Rocks (Disc 2). These guys seem to get mad play on the pod. However, I do LOVE this track. It's one of those ongoing dynamic jams, one that gets slow, then fast, then slow, then stops, then starts, etc.

3. Whiskey And Baby Doll - Seeds & Stems from Suono Esotico The Music Of Seeds & Stems. Instrumental funky track.

4. Walking On Sunshine - Katrina & The Waves from a mixed CD ala Medusa J. Great song, makes me want to jump up and dance like Jack Black in High Fidelity. In fact, I think I'll do just that.

5. Good Enough - Sarah McLachlan from Fumbling Towards Ecstasy. Great track from a great album/artist. I've said before that this album got me through a most fucked up time in life, and I'll say it again. Makes me smile to hear it and know I made it.

6. Butt Naked - Methods of Mayhem from a mixed Hip-Hop disc I made. I freakin' love this song. Tommy Lee rapping about the porno he and Pamela made. HI-larious.

7. All I Really Want - Alanis Morrisette from Jagged Little Pill. This song was on HIGH rotation back in the day, but I still enjoy it. Anger, hate, resentment, makes for a great album.

8. Motorcycle Drive By - Third Eye Blind from self-titled album. This song is okay, starts off pretty slow, then turns into a rock song, back to a slow jam.

9. Only You Babe - Curtis Mayfield from The Very Best Of. Curtis is the man. This is a great love song. R.I.P. Mr. Mayfield.

10. Now I'm A Man - Peter King from Shango. Ah, a nice afro/cuban/funk/jazz track to end the Ten. This album is a jam session, love it.

That's it for today's RT, time to switch loads, then walk the hounds. Happy Sunday all.

Peace out,
Medusa Jones

May Day Random Ten Edition

A little random ten for that azz!! It's been a while, so I thought one was in order. I'm planning the second annual kick-off to summer Crackshack Fest for 5/21/06 2-3pmish, a nice mid-day Sunday BBQ/jam/party. Speaking of the Crackshack, it has lived up to it's name!!! Today I observed three crackheads (one woman & two men) attempting to get into the crackshack to smoke the rock in mid-afternoon say, 4pm-ish!!!!! Too bad it's locked and I have two large dogs that I sicked on them. It's fun to watch people run in fear of dogs. I love the OC!!!!

1. On The Run - Pink Floyd from Dark Side Of The Moon. Electronic Floyd to start the RT.

2. Brown Skin - India.Arie from Acoustic Soul. I dig this song, alot. Reminds me of my younger days, summer time, being in love, carefree etc.

3. Paint It Black - The Rolling Stones from Hot Rocks Disc 1. Love this track. Reminds me of my very young days in NJ, cleaning w/ my mom, dancing around, etc. Good times. I believe this was the theme song of that TV show, China Beach.

4. Track 06 - PropellerHeads from a mixed PropellerHeads disc I made. I don't know the name of any songs on this cd, but I really enjoy this group. This track kinda sounds like that old video game, SpyHunter, or some Mission Impossible shit. Who knows, I dig it, and that's all that matters.

5. Sitting, Waiting, Wishing - Jack Johnson from In Between Dreams. Good song, album, and artist. I'm sure we can all relate to this song at some time or another in our lives. I know I can.

6. Fascinating Rhythm - ???? from Martini Lounge. I don't know who this is, but I like. It's got a big band sound to it and is quite fascinating, as the title states. It's got some xylophone, flute, brass, drums, percussion, etc.

7. Lovely Thing - Bird York from Wicked Little High. I was hipped to Bird via a co-worker, and I really like her. She's kind of like Sophie B. Hawkins, Tori Amos (minus the anger),Sarah McLachlan-ish.

8. Get Up Stand Up - Bob Marley & The Wailers from Legend. I can't get enough reggae, I love it. Bob, the legendary Rastafarian, R.I.P. One Love!!!!

9. Bag Lady - Erykah Badu from Mama's Gun. Hells yeah, I love Ms. Badu. I think I've said before that her lyrics speak to me, but I'll say it again. This song is so true, drop those bags.

10. Dounouya - Lobi Traore from Memphis To Mali. This is an African song, with lots of guitar and harmonica. I dig.

Okay, I'm outtie, going to pick up Salexis.

Peace out,
Medusa J

Monkey Business

Most of you know that I went to the zoo Thursday. It made me very sad to see the animals in cages and cubicles with nowhere to run and frolic, as they should. I'd venture to say that most of them were pissed off, like the panther, whom was pacing back and forth in his cage, and the polar bears that were doing the same. The gorillas showed their animosity toward us humans by keeping their backs to the glass, and occasionally charging the glass and banging on it. I wish I could have freed them all.

We did get to witness a few anatomy lessons, as well as some biological process' while there, which is always educational. One of the elephants decided to take a shit, which hit the ground with a loud "thud" followed by a large stream of urine, that sounded like and resembled a large hose. Below is a picture of one of the monkeys, and I apologize for not remembering his species. Now, this guy just sat in the back of the cage, like a pedophile, staring at us & the children, with a sad look in his eyes, as if he knew what he was doing was wrong, but couldn't stop. We referred to him as "Uncle Monkey" for the rest of the trip. Good thing the kids didn't realize what was going on here.

Rebirth Brass Band

These are pics from Wednesday's Rebirth show at the HOB. I must say, I had a damn good time. I had to take a picture of the left side of the stage, and the right side, because I was too close to get all of them together. I encourage anyone who has not had the opportunity to see these guys live, to do so the next time they come to town.

Ah, in this shot on the left, you can see the OC crew in full effect. Klassy Kate made it out, Salexis enjoying a drink and happy to be amongst friends, J-Ho w/ her back to the camera, and oh my, who is that slender Indian man behind Salexis? Could it be the infamous Taj? By golly, I think it is!!! How did he talk J-Ho into going out with her friends?

Okay, this picture to the right is HI-larious. I was trying to get a picture of Piddy & Silk, but this is what I got instead. As you can see, this guy REALLY liked the band. The lady in blue was also having herself a good ol' time. You can just see Silk's head above the lady in blue if you look real close. Piddy's elbow is just below blue lady's arm, the red/blue stripe. Love this shot.

Another great picture to the left. Now, this guy isn't your classic mullet, but he does have some killer ringlets accompanied by bangs. And no, this was not a wig. Silk observed this man during the show having a blast. I think he was a tad drunk, possibly off a nice large can or two of PBR. He was very pleasant, and complied with having his picture taken. He even shook my hand after I showed it to him. Kudos to you lady's hairdo man. Hope you enjoyed the show!!!!

This is the final shot of the night. As you can see, Piddy felt it necessary to make a face just as the picture was taken. We decided to hit up the Angle for some late night grub and some beers. Glad to have Salexis and Piddy back in the OC, I missed them both. Especially all of Salexis' quirks.

Peace out,
Medusa Jones
