Today's Events

A five star day according to today's PD horoscope, it went something like this...
I got to work, brought a patient down to the HOT AS BALLS gym, and began trying to work with her, while wearing a gown & non-latex gloves that were two sizes too small for my large hands. I can't say much, but this patient is very involved. Needless to say, I experienced the "faint" phenomenon mid-session. I started feeling very anxious & lightheaded, the room was getting smaller, and voices more distance. I quickly excused myself and tore off my gown/too small gloves and ran to the staff restroom. There I hosed off w/ cold water and got my grip. I returned to the session, finished up, and headed upstairs to do the note. As I was writing the note, the strange feelings came back, so I jumped up, ran to the bathroom and hosed w/ cold water once again. This time the feeling subsided. It was purely emotional, I'm sure, but very strange. I've cut up a human brain, a human body, observed ECT (electroconvulsive therapy), and have never once been phased, WTF???? Oh well, I survived and played it off pretty well (I think).

Next up....to the coffee shop to meet w/ Vanilla Soy Latte to finalize the plans for backpacking. Coming back from the bathroom, I run into Man Whore, he gives me a hug and strikes up convo. Now, for those who are unaware, MW called me out of the blue a few weeks ago at quarter to 11 (PM), never to be heard from again. So, today I felt it my obligation to call him out on this randomness. In response he said "You know, I was just calling to chat, see how you were doing. I was totally going to call you again, as soon as I had a chance...I've been busy...studying...the boards...." I smiled, rolled my eyes and said, "right, right." Seriously, who calls someone, that they previously had "relations" with, on a Wed. night at 10:45pm to chat? Now that I'm a professional working woman, I consider anything after 10PM (my bedtime) nothing but a booty call. Enough said.

Thirdly.....to Marc's for some much needed stuff I can't get at the market. While checking out I spot a mullet, a fucking serious mullet, two lines over. Picture this if you can: a larger woman, of African American decent,(looked much like Goldie Lox XL from Cloverleaf Lanes, but BETTER) with a top portion of spiky red, and we're talking fire engine red, bell pepper red type shit here people, with bleached blonde sides that were laced with "steps" and a back that hung just past her neckline. Up under the back, sticking out, was her natural black hair. I was so wrapped up in getting the specs/details of this mullet that I wrote the wrong total on my check, and had to cross everything out. I do this mullet very little justice with my words, and could not be more apologetic for letting all of you down, and not having my camera with me. Shame on me.

That pretty much brings us up to speed. I made myself a kick-ass salad for dinner, and to my surprise, my "tub" of blue cheese is GONE!!!!!! AHHHHH, Klassy Kate, u know the "tub" I speak of. All and all I'd say today was most def. a five star day, even with the near fainting episode first thing this morning.

Holy Testicle Tuesday

Not much going on over here at the West Five Two except household chores. I'm gonna fire off an RT (because I'm procrastinating) then go finish scraping the paint off the interior of my back porch. Fun. Here ya go....

1. Open Mic - Liquid Soul from one of my many mixed discs. Love these guys, and this song is just as the name implies, a freestyle w/ lots of jamming going down in the background. I will be heading to Peabody's to see this guys later next month.

2. The Panties - Mos Def from The New Danger. Mos is my boy!!!

3. Horny - Mousse T from yet another mixed disc. This song brings me back to my days in West Philadelphia and all the craziness that occurred on Regent Square. Yes Yes.

4. One Of Us - Joan Osborne from Relish. This is a really good album, I got to see her way back, about 11 years ago at the Electric Factory in Philadelphia. She's great.

5. Double Take - Seeds & Stems from Sunno Estico The Music Of Seeds & Stems. This is a nice funky/electronic groove that puts you floating out somewhere in tympanic vibration land.

6. Better Days - Anthony Hamilton from Coming From Where I'm From. I dig this guy.

7. The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly - Hugo Montenegro from Instrumental Magic. Okay, explanation here....my uncle, who is a drummer, let me borrow this disc when I was a kid so I could listen to some of the beats. I guess I never gave it back to him, oops.

8. Waterfalls - TLC from Crazysexycool. Oh yeah, let's all bow our head in a moment of silence for my girl Left Eye. Remember this song, it was the shit, and so was the video. Mad props TLC, mad props.

9. Break Of Dawn - Salt-N-Peppa from Very Necessary. Another old school group, hells yeah. I love these women. What ever happened to them??

10. Folsom Prison Blues - Johnny Cash from Live @ Folsom/San Quentin. AH, one of my favorite Johnny Cash songs. I'm gonna play it again, I love it that much.

Okay y'all, thanks for allowing me to procrastinate. I'll be sporting a dust mask and goggles if anyone wants to come get a look at my hot piece of ass.

Sunday Round-Up

Sitting here sipping my tea and enjoying a bowl of oatmeal w/ straw & blueberries that I just whipped up. Most of you know that I scored a kick-ass job at UH's RB&C for the summer. I worked two days last week, getting trained, and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna like it, alot. Not to be brag-a-docious, but it's an amazing place to be and there is so much to be learned while I'm there. I'm going to take full advantage, bust out my old pediatric books, and make myself more marketable.

Today is Father's Day, and I want to send a shout-out to my Pop's in dirty Jerzey, I wouldn't be me without him. Today is also the last day of the Native American Pow Wow down at Edgewater Park. Gates open at 1pm, I'll probably meander over there at some point to check out the dancing and the jewelry. On with the 10....

1. Time's A Wastin' - Erykah Badu from Mama's Gun. Can I get a hell yeah for this woman and this track? Great start to the 10!!

2. Part Of My Life - India.Arie from Acoustic Soul. Another great track & artist. I've never heard her follow-up album, but I do know that this one is kick ass.

3. If I Was Your Girlfriend - Prince from The Hits (Disc 2). There's a funky bass line to this track, and I love it.

4. Trampled Under Foot - Led Zepplin from Disc 3 of the box set. These guys don't get enough play on the Pod. Maybe this is the hippie in me, but damn these guys rock!

5. Leviticus;Faggot - Me'Shell Ndegeocello from Peace Beyond Passion. This is a good song about a young gay man that struggled through his sexual preference with his family and society. An appropriate song for Pride weekend.

6. Shake - Ottis Redding from The Very Best Of. Another feel good classic from Ottis, makes you want to get up and dance around, hence the name 'Shake.'

7. Natty Dread Rampage - Ziggy Marley from a mixed Ziggy disc I burned years ago. This a live cut from who knows where, but I LOVE this fucking song.

8. Friday Night - Ugly Duckling from a mixed UD disc. This is a great underground hip-hop group that I discovered while listening to a stream of WKEXP (a college station in Seattle). Very good, I recommend these guys to any hip-hop fan.

9. Devil's Pie - D'Angelo from Voodoo. Killer track.

10. Bye Bye Baby - G. Love & Special Sauce from Coast To Coast Motel. One of my favorite G. Love songs right here. A sweet bluesy, new orleans jazzy, type shit.

Sweet, a 10 that was filled with GREAT tracks! Way to go Pod.

Week In Review R-10

A rather uneventful week off from work, but enjoyable. Monday I had a pseudo-view in which I scored a kick-ass summer job at RB&C. Let's just say that this summer will be hella-good and I'll be doing a whole bunch of goofing off!! Tattoo Tuesday at 252 as Klassy Kate distracted me from the pain, turned out very nice. Props to KK for ditching work to spend the afternoon in a tattoo shop. Tuesday night was band practice with Salexis, let's just say it was the first of MANY to come. Wed. was a whole bunch of nothing, a few stops in Talkies for caffeine and stories of Rufus' digestive issues. OH yeah, and a walk with my dogs to find Raja's owner, only to flat out lie to him about how she came into my life. Thurs. a bagged lunch from Nate's enjoyed at Edgewater followed by a walk. On this walk I observed a not skinny man in a thong catching some rays, and a few hundred yards from him, a man in his tighty whities, laying on a picnic table catching rays, and his left hand, down the tighties, playing with his junk. Why I thought I could enjoy a mid-afternoon walk in the inner city park, I'm not sure. I left disgusted. Today I did a whole bunch of nothing and lots of napping. Tonight is Hillbilly Idol at the Harp, and I leave you with a random ten:

1. Sometimes - Erykah Badu from Baduizm. I hear ya sister.

2. Zimzallabim - Mos Def from The New Danger. This one is just okay.

3. Go To Extremes - Billy Joel from Greatest Hits. Uh-yeah, I should delete this one.

4. If It's Good To You - Eddie Bo & The Soulfinders from a miscellaneous album. A classic funk track.

5. Got To Give It Up - Marvin Gaye from Pure Disco. LOVE THIS TRACK...Too bad his dad killed him.

6. Music Is The Answer - Danny Tenaglia from The House Connection. Hells yeah, a little flashback to the "party" circuit of Philadelphia.

7. Wisemen - James Blunt from Back To Bedlam. I like this guy.

8. Nothin' - Reel Big Fish from Turn The Radio Off. These guys are great live, and I heard they are coming to the land of Cleve this summer. A great punk/ska band.

9. Falling In Love - Anthony Hamilton from Comin' From Where I'm From. Great album, great track, great artist.

10. Jamboree - Naughty By Nature from a mixed disc I created. One of my all time favorite NBN tracks, it's old school for those that don't know it. I heard these guys are coming to the land of Cleve also. Hells yeah.

Maceo Recap followed by Sunday's RT edition

Good morning world o' bloggers. I'm just chillaxin w/ my cup of vanilla cream tea (I'm trying to give up coffee and reap the benefits of the high amounts of anti-oxidants that tea has). So, about last night. Silk & I bought tix to see Maceo Parker (the great sax player from the JB's/James Brown/Parliament/RHCP/the list can go on for miles). We had to talk Salexis into going to the show, she was thinking of spending the evening w/ Mama Carol watching The Incredibles, but I have a feeling she had a good time.

Nobody can stand still at a funk show, including the interpretive dancer that took it upon herself to get on stage and jam. Her first act was good, but when Maceo decided to do a slow Ray Charles classic, it was a bit too much for the crowd as well as the band. She was pretty drunk and crashed into Salexis & Silk a few times throughout the show. At the end of the show she approached Silk and said, "I'm a hotter lesbian than you are." Finally, someone else is the lesbian, and not me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyways, she was so not hotter than Silk, I think her PBR gut did her in.

There was a very cute man jamming out the entire show, and I took it upon myself to strike up conversation with him towards the end of the show. Who would've known that him and his friend (more on that in a minute) would join us & Piddy at the Angle for some drinks and conversation. Totally cool hippie dude that, of course, lives in Columbus. But it was fun nonetheless, and have no fear, I got his digits and he got mine. His friend was one of those people that liked to talk just to hear himself talk, and poor Salexis was playing wing man for me. She just sat there nodding and occasionally saying "uh huh, okay, yeah" to make him feel like she was listening. We were trying to say goodbye and he just started rambling to me about I don't even know what, when Salexis abruptly stood up and cut him off.

So, that was our evening, and the start of my vacation. On with the R-10:

1. The Way You Move - Big Boi from Speakerboxxx. A great hip-hop album often overlooked by Andre's success on his part of the album.

2. Children Play With Earth - Arrested Development from 3 Years, 5 Months, & 2 Days In The Life Of. I dig this song and this group, great political messages throughout.

3. Breakfast At Volo's - Deep Banana Blackout from Rowdy Duty (Disc 1). My sis hipped me to this East Coast jam band, and let me tell you, they are funky.

4. Track 04 - Mark Farina from Mushroom Jazz 4. Classic chill track from the great DJ Mark Farina.

5. Rock Me Baby - Etta James from Platinum Services. Killer blues track that several artists have done.

6. Work It - Missy Elliot from Under Construction. Love me some Missy Misdemeanor.

7. More Peas - Fred Wesley & The JB's from Funky Good Time Anthology (Disc 1). Funk Yeah! This is where Maceo got his start and he gets a funky solo on this track.

8. Champion Requiem - Mos Def from The New Danger. This is my favorite track off this album, and you all know I love me some Mos Def.

9. Too Funky In Here - James Brown from a mixed funk disc I picked up along the way. I gotta dance to this, I'll be back.

10. Parasite - G. Love & Special Sauce from Electric Mile. A great track regarding all the SHIT the politicians feed us, fucking parasites.
