Deep Thoughts By Medusa Jones....

A few thoughts have run through my dome, and I thought I'd share:

1. Power Strips: Here is a strip of 6 or so outlets to utilize when you have multiple electrical items that need to get juice. Why is it that there is a warning that reads "CAUTION OVERLOADING MAY RESULT IN FIRE" isn't that the point?

2. A Salutation: "Have a blessed day." I received this salutation at Target today, and thought to myself that this greeting is quite politically incorrect. How does the cashier know if I celebrate Jesus as my lord and savior and/or any other religious being? She doesn't, and I am an Atheist, hence making it a non-PC thing to say. I vote we ban this greeting, for it has offended me.

3. Eyebrows: British Ed brought up this thought at Phnom Pehn last night. Without eyebrows, sweat drips directly into one's eyes when riding a bicycle and/or exercising in any way/shape/form that results in perspiration. So that's what eyebrows are for!!!!

4. Dennis Kucinich: He was dining at aforementioned local spot last night with his unusually tall wife (well, maybe he's unusually short, and she's just average height, anyways.....). They were playing kissy-face at the table, which I could have done without, but hey, he's just a regular politician trying to get his grub on.

5. Aliens: I'm beginning to think that I just might be one. I'm feeling further and further away from the human kind that resides amongst me. What happened, and when did it happen? Has it always been like this and I'm just now figuring it out? Like Jack says, where'd all the good people go???????????

Other happenings last night.....Salexis, Vanilla Soy Latte and I dropped in Lakewood's Winking Lizard to meet up w/ everyone's favorite East Side Lesbian & her crew. There I was grabbed by a blonde woman w/ circa 1988 bangs/attire and told "We gotta fill the floor, so if you wanna dance, get up there." Thanks, but I'll pass. After our bizarre experience in Flakewood we moved back to our comfort zone, the OC. We hit up the Angle where we found Nasty Nate & other Figheads. Ms. Butterscotch and her band was jamming out to some funk, which I greatly enjoyed. J-Ho's ex booty call stalker friend made a cameo. Nasty Nate & I spotted him at the same time and looked at each other and just laughed. We closed down the bar & Salexis was hungover this morning. Good times.

A True Random Ten

I've decided that my "random" on the old iPod is not at all what it says, so I'm going to do an R-10 from my Yahoo Launchcast cyberstation that I've created.

1. Bertha Butt Boogie - Jimmy Castor from Old School Boogie. This song is as funny as the title implies. It's a funky cut about a woman & her three sisters that have large asses. It was recommended by fans of Maceo Parker. I voted it a 3 out of 4 stars.

2. The Message (Gerald's Mix) - Cymande from Blueprint. Another group recommended by fans of Maceo & All The Kings Men. It's another funk groove, but it's pretty cheesey. This one gets a 1 out of 4, could do without hearing it again.

3. Let It Whip - Dazz Band from 20th Century Masters. Oh yeah, this one was a popular funky/diso'esque cut back in the 70's. You'd all know it if you heard it. "Let's whip it baby, Let's whip it right, Let's whip it baby...whip it all night."

4. Boss - Rick Boss from Port Of Miami. I have no idea who this is, but he sucks. This song was played cause it matches my genre preferences. Funny, I don't remember rating "not talent bad rap" as one of my genres. This guy is trying to rap about his loud speakers, peacock ring, his money & guns, as well as all the women he's dogged. And this guy making more money than me because?????? This one gets a "never play again" rating.

5. Life Is A Dance - Chaka Khan from Chaka. Who doesn't love some Chaka? I think she needs to make a comeback. I was so born in the wrong decade/culture. I gotta learn this drum groove, it's hella funky. It's got lots of hi-hat action which is indicative of the late 70's cocaine era in funk music.

6. Bossa - Donald Byrd from His Majesty King Funk. Don't know who this is, but it's a groovy little bossa-nova instrumental piece with trumpet, congas, guitar, bass, and drums. Not bad. It gets a 2 out of 4.

7. Be Easy - Young Hot Rod from Be Easy. This song sucks too. I like old school rap, all the new shit sucks ass. Another rating of "never play again" for this one.

8. In My House (12" Mix) - Mary Jane Girls from The Very Best Of. Too much disco & not enough funk in this one for me. It gets a 1 out of 4 rating.

9. Best Kept Secret - Diamond & The Psychotic Neurotics from Stunts, Blunts & Hip-Hop. Never heard of these guys, they were recommended by fans of Pharcyde. I dig them, this is the old school rap I was just talking about. If you like Pharcyde, check these guys out.

10. Back It Up - Urban Mystic from Ghetto Revelations II. No idea who this is, but the song is about big asses on the dance floor.

There you have it, a true random 10 from my Launchcast. I love that the 10 started with a 70's cut about big asses, and a present day rap about big asses. I couldn't have planned that if I tried. Good night.

Sunday Morn' R-10

Coffee & blueberry pancakes.....YUM.....on w/ the 10:

1. Chain of Fools - Aretha Franklin from a mixed motown disc I made. Love me some Aretha!

2. Brown Sugar - D'Angelo from a mixed disc I made via Kazaa. This song reminds me of my friend Black Buddha of Y-town!!

3. Rock the Nation - Michael Franti & Spearhead from Stay Human. Fuck yeah, this song says so much about the current state of our nation. The Feds actually kept tabs on this band and investigated them because of their lyrics. Like they were fucking terrorists just because they spoke out about how FUCKED the Bush administration is, hope they're not reading the West Five Two!!!! Silk & Piddy, I'll re-burn this disc for you, it's deep.

4. I Can't Stand The Rain - Ann Peebles from a Soul disc I made to learn funky drum beats.

5. Good People - Jack Johnson from In Between Dreams. I have to agree with Jack on this title/song.

6. More Peas - The JB's from Funky Good Time: The Anthology (Disc 1). This song is definitely a funky good time!!! If you hear this track & you don't move some part of your body, u better go get an ear examination.

7. Fishin' Blues - Taj Mahal from The Essentials (1). "Any fish bites if you got good bait" I enjoy that line.

8. Aquarium - Me'shell Ndegeocello from The Spirit Music Jamia: Dance of the Infidel. This track is jazz/electronica/african-esque all in one, as is most of this album. A good pick from Carnegie West branch.

9. September - Earth, Wind, & Fire from another mixed disc via Kazaa. September is gone already, but I do enjoy bopping around to this track.

10. I Get High On You - Sly & The Family Stone from The Essential (2). This comes ala Silk's collection. A funky band from the 70's, go figure!!

That's it. Now I have to start my day.
