Another Sunday morning Random Ten for all of you bloggers. I'm having coffee and doing some laundry, which is pretty standard of a Sunday here at the West Five Two. I have such an exciting life that I can't stand it.
On a different note, I was told yesterday by a close friend of mine, whom happens to be a lesbian, that I give off a lesbian vibe. She then tried to make me feel better by blaming it on my "hippie like attitude and earthy appearance." Perhaps this is why I'm still single. So, I am determined to get my ass out of the house today and do a little shopping for some new clothes (I don't shop for clothes, ever) in order to help the cause. Maybe something pink would help?
1. Hand In My Pocket - Alanis Morissette from Jagged Little Pill. Ah yes, my high school/teenaged angst album. This one brings back some memories. I do like this song, reminds me of myself. Instead of having one hand in my pocket, I have one foot on the floor and the other out the door.
2. Fu-Gee-La (Refugee Camp Global Mix) - The Fugees from The Score. Love this group, and I was so stoked to see them back together in Block Party. I'm hoping they'll put out another album of lyrical poetry and dope beats. Lauryn Hill representin' Dirty Jerzey!!!!!
3. You Took Advantage Of Me - Rosemary Clooney from Greatest Hits. A nice jazz tune for the mix. I like her voice a lot, kudos to Jimbo, for this is from his amazing collection!
4. It's Love - Jill Scott from Who Is Jill Scott (Words And Sounds Vol. 1). Holy shit, I love this woman, as well as this song. Jazzie, funky, great lyrics, an all around feel good track, especially if you're in love!!!! Damn it.
5. Got - Mos Def from Black On Both Sides. Hells yeah, you all know I love this man!
6. Rhiannon - Fleetwood Mac from The Dance. Nice, I don't think this group has come up in a Random Ten yet, I am very pleased. I love this song and this entire album; Reminds me of my childhood when my Mom & I would clean the house together and her hippie ass would put this "record" on and jam out. Ah, a fond memory, I better write that one down!!! This is why I'm a neat freak, it's a learned behavior.
7. Farewell Ride - Beck from Guero. This song doesn't do much for me. I love Beck, and I think this is a kick ass album, but this song doesn't get my attention. And yes Silk, they play this shit out of this album at Talkies. I mean, I like it and all, but damn.
8. Freakin' You - Jungle Brothers from a mixed JB album I stole off Kazaa. I LOVE this track, I can't help but dance when I hear it, so I'll be right back.
9. Scenes From An Italian Restaurant - Billy Joel from Greatest Hits. I think this is my favorite Billy Joel song of all times.
10. Stay Human (All The Freaky People) - Michael Franti & Spearhead from Stay Human. Freggin' A, I love this song. I like this guy's views on politics in this nation/world, as well as his opinions of life & love.
Well, there you have it. That was a kick ass RT, a nice variety. I'm off to the basement to fold some laundry.
