I was outside the other day scraping paint off my back porch in preparation to paint it (any helpers out there would be much appreciated!!). Yo Yo's kids & their cute pitbull were outside so I struck up a convo w/ them in efforts to make friends with the dog, that way I can rescue her. The little girl was rubbing her belly and repeatedly saying she was hungry until finally she just came right out and asked, "You got some chips in you house?" I laughed and told her she had to go into her home and ask her mommy for some food. Her brother snapped at her for asking for food, and I felt really bad cause they are nice kids with not a clue that their mom is ruining their young lives.
Today I was out doing yardwork and the kids were out there diggin in their front yard. I went over to see what they were doing and the boy exclaimed, "I'm planting a garden. I have lettuce and spinach seeds!" Too bad the front yard gets no sun, but hey, at least he's trying to do something constructive. I gave him some sunflower seeds to add to the garden and he was really excited. Later on he was outside and I offered him some ivy and periwinkle for his garden. I could tell he had been crying, so I asked him if he was okay, he just nodded and looked down at the ground. I handed him the plants and he thanked me, then walked away w/ tears coming down his face. I feel bad for him, he's 12 and will probably fall into the cycle of dysfuntion that his mother has taught him.
I had to work today in my regular place of employment, not the temporary gig, and I've gotta say, it's amazing what a differece a building makes. I walked in whistling and not at all bothered that I had to be there on a weekend. Hopefully I will be back there soon and can resolve this temporary insanity that I have slipped into.
I had a late dinner tonight, my first endeavor on frying tofu. It turned out great and I'm about to go back for some more. I've just been listening to music and relaxing all night. It's been nice.
