I'm getting highly motivated to fix things up around the house this summer in efforts to sell the house so I can get out of Cleveland. Today I hit up Home Depot for a few things, weed whacker included. When I got home I went straight to work, mowed, whacked, then headed out to the front yard to weed the flower beds.
I must also add that the crack shack is getting quite the reputation on the West Five Two. A few weeks ago after mulching, Nelson, the hispanic man that lives across the street came over to chat. He was commenting on the party last year where we jammed until 2am. He said he didn't mind, enjoyed listening to the music. He even said his son plays bass and he'd like to introduce him to me so we can jam. Then, today, Martha from down the street came by to introduce herself. We were making some small talk when she asked if I owned the crack shack. She said she hears music out there every now and again, so I had to explain to her that I am a drummer and we tend to throw parties in the crack shack every summer. Word of mouth and the crack shack will be the coolest venue on the west side.
Back to the house. I started ripping up ground cover in front of the crack shack while Yo Yo's kids were running around. Their grandparents were waiting in their minivan to pick up Yo Yo for a laundry run. We made some small talk, seems the dog ran away for good this time. Granny didn't like the idea of a pitbull in the house with the kids, so she wasn't upset. Two of the kids volunteered to help me so I took them up on their offer. I figured their Mom put me through enough shit last year, it's the least they can do. Karma. They were some serious workers too, they wanted to do a third lawn bag, but my old tired ass had to decline. They asked if they could help me finish so I told them I'd be out this weekend working on it. Hells yeah, I'll take all the help I can get. Plus these kids need skills, and not the kind Yo Yo is promoting.
My back is stiff now and I just popped two Benedryl cause I'm sneezing up a storm. Hopefully I'll pass out soon. More work on the house awaits me this weekend, but I must stay motivated. Make the best of my time here, stay positive and patient (unlike my friend Wah Wah Willie), then make a break.
Peace out,
MJ
