Daylight Savings R-10

Good morning fellow bloggers. I started off early today, got some laundry under way, tried to run some errands, but w/ the time change, nothing was open yet. So, I found my way to Gypsy for some fair trade coffee and a muffin. While sitting here I started to pay attention to the music she has playing, and it's fucking country, needless to say, I had to throw on some of my tunes. I started reviewing my blog and noticed that lately it has been filled with only sick and twisted stories of Crapland. I also noticed it has been quite some time since anyone has busted out a random ten. So, in honor of darkness embracing us for the next six months, we're off:

1. I Can't Get Next To You - The Temptations from Motown: The Classics Disc 2. This version is a bit faster than the Al Green classic (which I prefer) but it's not a bad way to start today.

2. Brooklyn - Mos Def from Black On Both Sides. You all know I am a huge Mos Def fan. Enough said.

3. The Celebrated Walkin' Blues - Taj Mahal from The Essentials. Classic blues cut from one of the best. Makes me want to learn how to play the harmonica.

4. Willow Tree - G. Love & Special Sauce from Yeah That's Easy. This track brings back memories from my late teen/early twenties. Growing up in the Jers and spending time in Iladel. Wurd.

5. It's A Love Thing (Instrumental) - Pete Rock from Mushroom Jazz 5/Mark Farina. I can't say enough good things about Mark Farina. He has some killer down time funky jazz electronica music, as well as some heavy house beats that make you wanna move. Google him and get some of his stuff, you won't be disappointed. Especially the Mushroom Jazz discs.

6. Four Days - Counting Crows from This Desert Life. Not much to say about this track, other than it is pretty standard Counting Crows.

7. Do The Reggay - Toots & The Maytals from The Very Best Of. One of the best reggae bands ever, in my opinion. Got a chance to see them here in the land of Cleve back in March. I recommend every reggae lover see them live.

8. Certainly - Erykah Badu from Baduizm. When is she coming out w/ some new stuff? I love her style.

9. Boomin' Granny - Beastie Boys from The Sounds Of Science (1). One of my favorite BB cuts. I know Silk's got my back on this one!

10. Alive - Pearl Jam from Ten. Now this cut takes me back to my teenage angst years. I think we probably all owned (and still own) this cd. Sing along w/ me everyone......

That's it for now. I think I'm going to take Cody out to the Metroparks for a hike, seeing that it is only 10:11am. She'll like that, as will I.

Peace out,
MJ
