Day 2

Upon waking I slathered on the sunblock in anticipation of outdoor activity for most of the day. On our ride to Diamond Head we passed by a fire department that was giving a bunch of pre-schoolers a tour. The cute young fireman was assisting a little boy in watering the plants.
Going through the tunnel.....
The amazing crater Diamond Head in which we are about to hike...
Me and the Knotty Dee about 1/3 way up. Working on my base tan here....
Knotty Dee in the tunnel that we had to stand in for about 15 minutes, in the dark, while waiting to get to the top. Hey Willie, see your Dad to the left...why's he in such a hurry??
He got yelled at from worker at top of guard tower for cutting the line.
After the tunnel we had to climb these stairs. Behind me someone was breathing like Darth Vader. Here I was thinking it would be an older woman until I turned around to see that she in fact was about my age, just quite large. She was known as Vader for the remainder of the hike. Reg was three people in front of her and could hear the breathing. I, luckily, was right in front of Vader and got to feel her massive gusts of breath on my neck.
To Vader's dismay, this the next set of stairs we had to climb. This is a shot from the bottom looking up. I'm glad no one was wearing a skirt...
And we emerged victorious at the lookout tower!!! What a view, I stood there taking it all in for quite some time.
Waikiki/Downtown Honolulu from the top of the crater. This is postcard material my fellow bloggers.
This is the other side of the crater. Wonder how much property costs over there??
Knotty sisters at the top of the crater.....
Made it back to the bottom. Here I saw two people from my flight and gave them a shout out. I also peeped a dude sporting an OSU hat so I yelled out "Go Bucks" and he yelled back "O-H" and I replied "I-O" that was for you Zuess!!!!!!!

Upon leaving the monument there is a great view of Kokohead mountain. Perhaps we will conquer her too!!!!

We ended the day with some light boogie boarding in gnarly waves. Tomorrow comes the shark adventure followed by the North Shore/Banzai Pipeline extravaganza!!!!!!!!

Peace out,
MJ
