A Penny Saved.....

Is a Penny earned, or in this case, Karma for the bank. I headed up to Gypsy in the snow to break my cabin fever. As I was ordering my soup, one of the Barista's noticed a dog outside. I went outside to see if I could get the dog to come to me to investigate if it had tags. It did, and the Barista ran out w/ some dog biscuits for me. I threw them one at a time toward the dog and she started nibbling and wagging her tail. She was a bit shy, but came up to me and let me see her tags. No name or number, but registered w/ the county kennel. Along came a makeshift leash via a scarf the Barista was wearing as an accessory. We got the dog into the coffee shop, made some phone calls as I ate my soup, and by 1:45 the dog and I were en route to the APL. She was such a sweet and obedient dog, I knew someone was missing her very much. Once there, the workers quickly typed in the number off the tag & the owner's name/address was at our fingertips. They called the owner, Robert, and within about 20 minutes he was there with his son, Logan, to pick up their beloved dog, Penny. He was very appreciative and couldn't thank me enough. He even made a donation to the APL in my name to express his and the family's gratitude.

I often wonder why I do not work with animals, especially dogs, seeing that I have such an attachment to them. Perhaps a career change or shift is in the air as I take to writing the next chapter of my life.
One Love,
