Blog Worthy Events

For those of you keeping up w/ Klassy Kate's blog, you've heard of the urban camping experience at the West Five Two. The sounds of sirens, little kids out past their bedtimes, and the hum of I-90 lulled us to sleep in the tent we pitched in the side yard. Good times.

Monday went something like this.....up at 7am, cleaned up the camp site, and crashed out on the couch for the rest of the morning. A trip to Target for some flip flops with Salexis, followed by a fly by the seat of our pants BBQ in the metroparks.
Piddy lead us on a wild goose chase in efforts to find a spot to pop a squat. He did manage to find a most excellent shaded area, where we grilled, ate, played catch & frisbee. I must admit, I was not anticipating hanging out w/ all of my ex's childhood friends, and was, at times, a bit self-conscious, but I managed to have a great time, regardless. On the drive home I had to pee so bad that I made a stop at Edgewater park to use the facilities. Yeah, they were gross, but I had to go.

Back at the West Five Two, Klassy came over and we walked up to Dariy D for some ice cream, then walked the hounds. We were chillin on the couch just shootin' the shit when the dogs started barking at the back door. I though it was perhaps Piddy & Silk coming for their chicken wings, however, when I looked out the window, I saw the hottie (not so hot anymore) nurse's vehicle parked in my drive. That's right, he did the old "pop over" at 9pm on a Monday night. He came to the front door, it was very awkward and freaked me the fuck out, but Klassy said I handled it well. Any thoughts/suggestions/comments on that shit would be greatly appreciated.

Back to work today, only three more days to go before I get a break. I can't freggin' wait. A shit ass meeting ended my day, and I just finished a HOT ass bowl of chili and I'm sweating my ass off.

Peace out,
Medusa J

High Water = No Canoe Trip

That's right bloggers, no boat rentals today due to the massive amounts of rain we've had in the last few days. So, Klassy Kate & I are heading down to the park to be hippies. If anyone would like to join us, call the cell. Also, everyone's favorite East Side Lesbian is having a BBQ early this evening (4pm-ish I think), so if anyone would like to head out that way, give me a call. One other event for today, a blues show at the Barking Spider (9pm), always free and always a good time.

iPod Charging RT Edition

I have to charge the pod for my Saturday walk/Rapid/walk to work route, so I figured why not do a R-10 in the meantime. I took a nap tonight, watched the last quarter of the Cavs game (I'm not really sure why, because I could care less about professional sports), and that brings us up to the present. On with the Ten.....

1. 7 - Prince from The Hits B/Sides (Disc 1). The funky little purple man. YES!!!

2. French Rockin' Boogie - Geno Delafose from Zydeco Favorites. Love me some zydeco, I've gotta get to New Orleans to witness this shit live.

3. Crush On You - Lil' Kim from Hardcore. Oh hell yeah, Lil' Kim is the shit. This takes me back to the end of my senior year in Dirty Jerzey followed by first year of college in Philly. My mother HATED this album, and I, of course, couldn't get enough of it.

4. Rain - Madonna from Bedtime Stories. I always welcome Madonna on the RT, and I really liked the video to this track.

5. Kiss - Prince from The Hits/B Sides (Disc 2). Hells yeah, a double shot of the funky little purple man!!!!!! This song is one of my all time fave Prince jams, and a funky one at that.

6. Woo - Erykah Badu from Worldwide Underground. My girl. This album is not of the same caliber of the others, but still good.

7. The Root - D'Angelo from Voodoo. MMMMM MMMMM MMMMMM

8. Didjerama - Jamiroquai from Traveling Without Moving. A very cool track of electronica/african/nature music and sounds blended into one fine piece of work.

9. Buffalo Soldier - Bob Marley & The Wailers from Legend. I got nothin' but love for Bob.

10. Low Rider - War from Dazed And Confused Soundtrack. A great classic to close out the 10, SWEET!!!!!!

That's all for now, the pod still needs some more charging time, and I am ready for the sleeper.

Peace out,
Medusa Jones

Sunday Morning Random Ten Edition

It's laundry day, again, here at the West Five Two. I'm having my morning cup o' java and surfing the internet for things I don't really need, but want to buy. I came down with a touch of influenza Thursday evening, took the day off Friday to suffer, and have been downing Nyquil both morning, afternoon, and evening. I'm feeling better, but my nose is rather chapped from steady blowing. I hate being sick, especially when the weather is nice. Sux ass, on with the Ten:

1. Hope - Kelly Ricketts from Hourglass. Ah, a hometown artist from the Ville. I grew up with this gal, and she's a good shit. I'd love the opportunity to jam with her. Kudos to you K-dawg, keep making music.

2. Midnight Rambler (Live) - The Rolling Stones from Hot Rocks (Disc 2). These guys seem to get mad play on the pod. However, I do LOVE this track. It's one of those ongoing dynamic jams, one that gets slow, then fast, then slow, then stops, then starts, etc.

3. Whiskey And Baby Doll - Seeds & Stems from Suono Esotico The Music Of Seeds & Stems. Instrumental funky track.

4. Walking On Sunshine - Katrina & The Waves from a mixed CD ala Medusa J. Great song, makes me want to jump up and dance like Jack Black in High Fidelity. In fact, I think I'll do just that.

5. Good Enough - Sarah McLachlan from Fumbling Towards Ecstasy. Great track from a great album/artist. I've said before that this album got me through a most fucked up time in life, and I'll say it again. Makes me smile to hear it and know I made it.

6. Butt Naked - Methods of Mayhem from a mixed Hip-Hop disc I made. I freakin' love this song. Tommy Lee rapping about the porno he and Pamela made. HI-larious.

7. All I Really Want - Alanis Morrisette from Jagged Little Pill. This song was on HIGH rotation back in the day, but I still enjoy it. Anger, hate, resentment, makes for a great album.

8. Motorcycle Drive By - Third Eye Blind from self-titled album. This song is okay, starts off pretty slow, then turns into a rock song, back to a slow jam.

9. Only You Babe - Curtis Mayfield from The Very Best Of. Curtis is the man. This is a great love song. R.I.P. Mr. Mayfield.

10. Now I'm A Man - Peter King from Shango. Ah, a nice afro/cuban/funk/jazz track to end the Ten. This album is a jam session, love it.

That's it for today's RT, time to switch loads, then walk the hounds. Happy Sunday all.

Peace out,
Medusa Jones

May Day Random Ten Edition

A little random ten for that azz!! It's been a while, so I thought one was in order. I'm planning the second annual kick-off to summer Crackshack Fest for 5/21/06 2-3pmish, a nice mid-day Sunday BBQ/jam/party. Speaking of the Crackshack, it has lived up to it's name!!! Today I observed three crackheads (one woman & two men) attempting to get into the crackshack to smoke the rock in mid-afternoon say, 4pm-ish!!!!! Too bad it's locked and I have two large dogs that I sicked on them. It's fun to watch people run in fear of dogs. I love the OC!!!!

1. On The Run - Pink Floyd from Dark Side Of The Moon. Electronic Floyd to start the RT.

2. Brown Skin - India.Arie from Acoustic Soul. I dig this song, alot. Reminds me of my younger days, summer time, being in love, carefree etc.

3. Paint It Black - The Rolling Stones from Hot Rocks Disc 1. Love this track. Reminds me of my very young days in NJ, cleaning w/ my mom, dancing around, etc. Good times. I believe this was the theme song of that TV show, China Beach.

4. Track 06 - PropellerHeads from a mixed PropellerHeads disc I made. I don't know the name of any songs on this cd, but I really enjoy this group. This track kinda sounds like that old video game, SpyHunter, or some Mission Impossible shit. Who knows, I dig it, and that's all that matters.

5. Sitting, Waiting, Wishing - Jack Johnson from In Between Dreams. Good song, album, and artist. I'm sure we can all relate to this song at some time or another in our lives. I know I can.

6. Fascinating Rhythm - ???? from Martini Lounge. I don't know who this is, but I like. It's got a big band sound to it and is quite fascinating, as the title states. It's got some xylophone, flute, brass, drums, percussion, etc.

7. Lovely Thing - Bird York from Wicked Little High. I was hipped to Bird via a co-worker, and I really like her. She's kind of like Sophie B. Hawkins, Tori Amos (minus the anger),Sarah McLachlan-ish.

8. Get Up Stand Up - Bob Marley & The Wailers from Legend. I can't get enough reggae, I love it. Bob, the legendary Rastafarian, R.I.P. One Love!!!!

9. Bag Lady - Erykah Badu from Mama's Gun. Hells yeah, I love Ms. Badu. I think I've said before that her lyrics speak to me, but I'll say it again. This song is so true, drop those bags.

10. Dounouya - Lobi Traore from Memphis To Mali. This is an African song, with lots of guitar and harmonica. I dig.

Okay, I'm outtie, going to pick up Salexis.

Peace out,
Medusa J
